No Smoking Sign
Without having adequate no smoking signs at your premises, you will be breaking the law. If your business is not following sign regulations, you could face penalty fines of up to £1000 in the most extreme cases. Similarly, if it becomes apparent that you are not maintaining smoke-free premises, an area manager could be facing a maximum fine of £2500.
So far, we have mentioned that smoking is prohibited in enclosed areas, but we are continuously moving towards stricter non-smoking rules. Wales’s new legislation came into effect in March of 2021 which meant that school grounds, public playgrounds, hospital grounds, and outdoor daycare settings will now be required to be smoke-free. As we move towards a more smoke-free society, you need to make sure you have smoking prohibition signs in place.
When research confirmed that smoking and second-hand smoke had harmful effects on the human body, it became law that public enclosed areas should prohibit smoking to protect individuals who enter these spaces. All public enclosed spaces must display signs that clearly communicate the prohibition of smoking in said area. A no-smoking sign demonstrates that your business is taking every necessary step towards complying with the smoke-free legislation.
